The Only Way is Hydrogen? – Small molecule. Big, clean future
A new podcast from GW-SHIFT
No hype. No jargon. Just real conversations about hydrogen and our clean energy future.
The Only Way is Hydrogen? is a new 12-episode podcast from GW-SHIFT, hosted by Deputy Director Karen Brooks. The series brings together voices from local government, industry, transport, research, business and the arts to explore one of the most debated areas of clean energy – focusing on real-world decisions, lived experience and practical challenges.
The podcast looks at how hydrogen could affect homes, transport, industry and everyday life – and where it may not be the right solution. Instead of easy answers, it aims to help listeners navigate the hydrogen debate clearly and honestly, without jargon or hype.
Episode 1 features a conversation between Karen Brooks and legendary lyricist Sir Richard Stilgoe. They discuss how the award-winning West End musical Starlight Express replaced steam with hydrogen, and why storytelling and creativity matter in the clean-energy transition.
