Maritime UK South West brings together the breadth of our ocean economy, working in partnership to champion, grow and clean our sector.

We are a not for profit company, run for and by our members. Our annual work plan is set by our board and is financed via membership and project delivery.

We lobby for and promote the sector, working on behalf of our members to stimulate growth, innovation, skills, careers and diversity.

We deliver consultancy services via our network with considerable experience in bidding for and managing complex projects.

Delivering benefit to our members

We enable increased exposure and access to strategic, network and commercial opportunities to our members and sponsors and work together create and deliver an annual workplan.

Project management

We have a depth of experience in bidding for and managing complex projects and are both a respected project partner and project lead. We work with SMEs, large multi-nationals, European partners, universities, research institutions and sector and cluster organisations.

Facilitator of innovation

We take emerging technologies and recognise the commercial opportunities and challenges for the marine sector. We can help manage technology risk and facilitate funding access for SMEs. We can help local authorities and sector organisations meet their economic targets through targeted projects.

Convening

We convene key players in the sector in order to develop innovation, skills and infrastructure, creating economic evidence and strategy, supporting the development of strategic bids to government, including Smart Sound Plymouth and the Marine Business Technology Centre (£7M+), the Appledore Clean Maritime Innovation Centre (£16M), The Plymouth and South Devon Freeport and the only Innovate UK Launchpad fund of (£7M) dedicated to Maritime.

Voice to Government

We are one of a small number of regional maritime cluster organisations recognised by and who work with Government to champion and grow the sector. We contract to the Society of Maritime Industries as National Innovation Lead, ensuring that the SW is as close as possible to the national agenda and Government. Between our board members we hold key national board positions including the National Shipbuilding Office Skills Delivery Group and the Marine Autonomous Systems Regulatory Working Group.

Skills, careers and diversity

We work to better market careers and diversity in the sector focussing on reaching young people and careers changers and providing a one stop shop for careers collateral, educational resources and information on mentoring.

Dissemination and support

We produce a monthly newsletter to a network of 3,500 subscribers packed with funding, skills, support and events – to enable businesses to find out about sector opportunities and extensive series if events.

Our Business Adviser Network provides access to world class business and research support.

We host and partner with several maritime special interest groups for clean maritime offshore wind , marine autonomy and aquaculture.

SeaRegs have been recognised with a FLOWmark® for two courses which clearly signposts how maritime training can lead directly into the offshore wind sector. Their Level 3 Small Commercial Vessel Crew Member and Level 3 Boatmaster apprenticeships, have now achieved FLOWmark® recognition, confirming these programmes are practical, industry-aligned
