Maritime UK South West has welcomed the Government’s £271 million funding boost to support green shipping, zero-emission vessels, and port infrastructure, announced on 3 March 2026. The investment, part of a £448 million clean maritime commitment, aims to create skilled jobs and strengthen coastal economies.

The funding, via CMDC Round 7 and ZEVI Round 2, follows previous support that helped 500 UK businesses and 750 jobs. MUKSW sponsor ACUA Ocean in Plymouth has already benefited, delivering a remote hydrogen-controlled vessel for offshore monitoring.

The investment offers a major opportunity for South West maritime businesses to drive innovation, attract private investment, and lead the UK’s transition to cleaner seas. Applications open on 11 March for CMDC and 26 March for ZEVI.

This 200 delegate event at the University of the West of England, Bristol will:

• Provide “learnings, opportunities and challenges” case studies from those who have applied and developed technologies using previous rounds of UK SHORE funding
• Enable facilitated collaboration with delegates from across the UK to help form new consortia
• Highlight other funding for clean maritime from ESA and Horizon Europe in addition to bid writing, innovation and business support
• Provide insight into the major projects likely to drive the adoption of clean maritime and develop decarbonised ecosystems in the SW
