TIGER supply chain events get underway

TIGER is an Anglo-French collaboration to drive the development of Tidal Stream Energy in UK and French waters, specifically driving Tidal Energy Supply Chain innovation and opportunty from outside the sector. It is led by Maritime UK South West Strategic partner, the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, (OREC). 9th July saw the first in a series of six supply chain engagement events to be delivered between now and October. This first event was themed specifically around “subsea cables and connectors” within the tidal sector and was co-hosted with OPIN. 140 delegates attended the online event.

The main aim was for tidal developers to give an overview of their technology and project development plans and provide insight on lessons learnt to date and challenges which both existing and potentially new supply chain companies may be able to help with. Tidal Energy Supply Chain Q&A sessions were held throughout the event to enable direct interaction between tech developers and interested supply chain companies.  The line- up was as follows:

Teo van der Kammen of OREC gave an introduction to TIGER
Neil Farrington of OREC gave an overview of OPIN
Fraser Johnson, O&M Manager for Meygen Ltd, talked about subsea cables, lessons learnt and future arrays
Trevor Walls, Engineering Manager for Orbital Marine Power Ltd, covered SR2000 – O2 lessons learnt and future development plans
Erwann Nicolas, Engineering Manager for Sabella, covered technology overview, development plans, lessons learnt and plans for the future
Tom Morley, Business Development Manager at Synaptec spoke on passive subsea asset monitoring system developments for offshore energy

For those who missed the webinar or would like a chance to watch it again, it is now available on the TIGER website.  The speaker presentations can also be downloaded and each contains speaker contact details. We will also be uploading the Q&A covered in the webinar, but if you had any questions we didn’t manage to cover, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
